Skip Barber National races 1 and 2 at the 12 Hours of Sebring.
March 23, 2011
The Skip Barber National Series recently wrapped up the first two races of the season at Sebring, during the 12 Hours of Sebring. Scott put on a great performance, but not without his share of bad luck.
Scott started off the Skip Barber National season by setting the fastest lap in the first practice, an engine problem in the second practice gave Scott only two full laps, but he came back and set another fastest lap in the final practice, As well as qualifying 1st for race 1, giving Scott the first point of the season. Qualifying for race 2 didn't go quite as well, but he was still able to qualify 3rd with no draft, which is not an easy task.
While Scott was able to prove that he is the fastest driver in the field early on in the week, his races were a mix of good performance and bad luck. Race 1, Scott was able to stay near the front for the entire race, and managed a respectable 4th place finish, which gave him a solid platform in points for the start of the season. The second race however, did not end as well, Scott had made his way back up to the lead pack after getting shuffled back early on, and as he was making a pass for 3rd he got spun from behind, putting him well behind the leaders. He managed to gain one spot and finish 9th.
While its not the result he was looking for, it shouldn't hurt the rest of the season as each driver gets two drops. Scott's performance proved that he is one of the drivers that will be challenging for the championship, and we look forward to a successful season.
